Andrew Pudewa ~ Four Language Arts
When asked, “What are the language arts?” people may respond by listing such things as: spelling, phonics, grammar, penmanship, composition, etc. But actually, only one of these is correct! According to the classical (and the common sense) model, there are four core “language arts” and to teach each from the beginning in the proper way must be the highest priority for those who call themselves “writing educators.”
Andrew Pudewa ~ Nurturing Competent Communicators
Nurturing Competent Communicators – The Power of Linguistic Patterns. Many parents think that good readers will naturally become good writers. Others think that writing talent is just that—a natural ability—some have it; others don’t. Both are myths. History and modern research show very clearly how good writers have developed. What are the two most critical things you can do as a parent to develop a high level of aptitude, from a young age and into high school? With humor and insight, Andrew will share the two easy but unbelievably powerful things you can do to build language patterns and nurture competent communicators in your family.

Jenny shares statements of Jesus from the Book of John, that will transform any heart from feeling abandoned to a heart that stays steady even as life shakes all around.
Jenny Smith ~ “Seriously, God?”
Over the course of the last two years, like so many families, we faced foreclosure, job loss, the anxiety of no health insurance, and having to learn to adapt to a different income bracket. Somehow, adapting to a higher one had never been an issue.
I remember as I walked through our house one last time knowing I had to pull myself together quickly. I paused looking in the girl’s bedrooms, painted exactly how they had wanted. I walk through the living room smiling, remembering when my friend had spent days painting those walls with me. The front door beckoned me to open it one last time. As my hand grasped the knob all of a sudden I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t open that door and walk to the truck piled high with our belongings. My head rested on the frame as tears filled my eyes. How did we get to this place?
Oh, I remembered all the mistakes we had made, but when we finally began to wake up, we immediately turned to God. We had thought he would come through. I struggled with how God had let me down, where was he? Why didn’t he provide a job where we could maintain our standard of living? My whole Christian life had been built on this understanding of God being our provider, the one who when we had a need we went to and he provided. What happened? We were doing everything we knew to do and it wasn’t working.
I share this story in my book, Seriously God and in this session. The journey God took me on, showed me how knowing the seven I Am statements of Jesus from the Book of John, would transform my heart from feeling abandoned to a heart that stays steady even as life shakes all around me.
